You are an important partner in the growth and excellence of
ECFE!
There are many ways you can volunteer for the ECFE
Program. We look forward to working with all volunteers to
help the program be a success. Together we can contribute in
a very large way to the education of our children!
The opportunities listed here are divided into two groups,
those that are on-going throughout the year, and those that
are generally one-time.

| •ONE-TIME OPPORTUNITIES•
•Aide for Special Events:
Volunteer for 1-2 hour slots to assist ECFE personnel or
Advisory Council with Business Expo, Health fair, Garage
Sales, etc. May include setting up or tearing down booth,
giving information, assist with activities of the event.
•Chaperone Trips: Occasionally ECFE sponsors
trips to places like Children's Museum, Como Zoo, Etc. The
chaperone would take attendance of participants, give
instructions for the trip, make sure everyone has returned
to the bus before it leaves, distribute and collect
evaluations. Fees are waived for the chaperone and their
child for the trip.
Bake Sale: One week before special events (annual
garage sale, etc.) you would need to pick-up packaging
materials with instructions from ECFE office. You may
purchase or bake items to sell. Examples would be 1 dozen
cookies, 1/2 dozen bars or muffins, or 1 loaf of bread.
•Child Care: Sometimes during special ECFE
events, people who are sharing their time at the event need
child care. Arrangements would be made according to the
need. (If possible, would be needed during the garage sale,
spring cleaning, etc, and would probably take place at ECFE
with a team of people.)
•Parent Sharing (hobby or talent): If you have
any hobbies, interests, talents, or would like to share your
occupation with the ECFE children and staff that would be
great! Please list your expertise on the Volunteer Survey.
If any of the topics can be used in the classes, you will be
contacted and arrangements made.
•Poster Pin-Up: Occasionally flyers need to be
distributed throughout the community. Your help would be
needed to deliver the flyers to appropriate businesses.
•Seasonal Cleaning of Classrooms: Volunteer a
few hours of your time to help organize, rearrange, and
clean the ECFE classrooms. This will be done about 3 times
per year.
•Equipment Set-Up/Moves: Move equipment and/or
set-up equipment for ECFE as needed.
•Sewing: Occasionally special requests are made
for making beanbags, pillows, aprons, flannel board
cut-outs, etc. for classroom use. Mending may also be
needed.
•Video Tape Classes: Video tape children at play
in your child's class. Focus in on their individual and/or
group play. Camera and tapes are provided. Child educator
will edit tape so that parents will view at a later
time.
•Writing Articles for Newsletter:
Newsletters are published bimonthly. Articles can be
written on a variety of subjects. Any ideas would be
welcomed. Articles will be reviewed by the ECFE Manager. | •ON-GOING OPPORTUNITIES•
•Food to CAER: Check at ECFE
for items and deliver donated items to CAER.
•Clean Toys: Wash and clean toys according to
ECFE guidelines.
•Parent Library Assistant: Alphabetize books,
inventory and assist with monitoring overdue books.
•Transportation Volunteer: Provide
transportation to classes for people in need of a ride.
These people would attend the same class as your family.
•Mentor for Young Parent: Provide one to one
support to a young parent. Participate in training
activities and assist with young parent program activities.
Interested volunteers will complete an application,
interview process, and training. A one year commitment is
required.
•Cut Simple Wood Pieces: Cut wood pieces
according to pattern provided to be used in "build it
together" classes.
•Toy Repair: Repair broken toys as needed.
•Deliver Brochures/Newsletters to Businesses:
Deliver brochures and newsletters to list provided
(clinics, library, Government Center, Chamber of Commerce,
etc.)
•Drop In Play Supervisor: Set-up classroom with
simple activities (paint, playdough, paper/crayons, etc.)
and supervise participants during the session.
•Prepare Classroom Materials: Make playdough,
glurch, silly putty, cut out materials or prepare other
items needed for regular classes and one-time events.
•Donate Consumables: Donate items that are
needed for classrooms according to needs specified by staff.
List may include paper products, flour, etc.
Classroom Volunteer: Assist teachers in the classroom
or share a hobby or talent.
